Now available for the first time!

LOVE IN A PAWN SHOP started life in my head as “my pitbull, pawn shop story” and for years that’s how I described it to anyone who showed the least bit of interest in what I was working on. The early version had a pitbull with a brindle coat.

After Beau (the one on my cover) passed away a few years ago, I knew I had to change the dog’s colouring to match his. Eventually, self-publishing became an option and I scanned a 35 mm photograph of my darling. So here he is forever and always: ready to play the way he always was.

I did get some editor interest in this story, but marketing didn’t like the idea of a romance heroine running a pawn shop, so the story waited and waited and waited in my heart until now.

LOVE IN A PAWN SHOP is a story of sacrifices made and freedom finally on the horizon. It’s a story about people with bad timing, and hard decisions. It’s about knowing where you’re going and getting there!

It’s about finding out what’s most important.

A pit bull, a pawn shop and a pain-in-the-ass kid brother…

Dix is good with two out of three. She’s had it with dusty shelves, desperate people and her teenage brother. With Riley about to graduate, Dix is ready to buy her one-way ticket to Paris.

Then sexy cop Dane Caldwell walks into her store on the hunt for stolen goods, and threatens her brother and her business.

The worst threat is to Dix’s heart…if she loses that, she loses her dream.

Dane soon realizes he’s found love in a pawn shop. Even the pit bull thinks he’s okay. Now all he has to do is convince Dix that love is more than just another complication.

I created Razor from my own dog, Beau, with some changes. In the story, Razor was “rescued” and shows signs of past abuse. This is very common with the breed. The reality is that Beau came to us out of a pile of puppies and while I was busy cuddling one pup, Beau made a beeline for my husband and stole his heart. We always said that Beau picked us. Blessed us is more like it. Anyone who’s ever owned a bully breed knows what I mean.

Some of Razor’s behaviours are straight from our lives with Beau…while one specific incident is taken from a story involving a daylight robber and a Bull Terrier.

Beau…this one’s for you!

Earthy, Irreverent . . . Lovestruck
